How did it strike you on arrival?
Funky neighborhood hotel with a relaxed vibe befitting its locale next to Lincoln Park and the Lincoln Park Zoo. The designers went mad at flea markets, and festoon the walls with mismatched art, and the desk is made up of dresser drawers. Come here with an appetite: The hotel houses multiple restaurants, including Sushi Suite 202, an in-suite omakase experience featuring 17+ courses of choice nigiri, and Sushi by Bou, a popular spot for omakase, Japanese beers, and thoughtful selections in their Whiskey Library.

    Nice. What’s the crowd like?
Families and other fun-seekers with a healthy sense of humor.

The good stuff: Tell us about your room.
Feels like a vintage hotel, and the art mix in the lobby continues, to great fun, in the rooms. Cozy. The best rooms overlook the park and Lake Michigan.

We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?
Nice bed with loads of pillows.

How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?
Fun collection of original artwork of all shapes and sizes hung around the room. Bluetooth speakers. Also, “Abe’s Secret Service,” available at the front desk, has mini bar type items that can be delivered to the room.

Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.
Bathrooms are efficient and stock some fabulous MALIN+GOETZ products.

Maybe the most important topic of all: wifi. What’s the word?
    Good wifi and included.

    Room service: Worth it?
Room service includes locally sourced seasonal specials that change frequently.

Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.
It's hard to miss Elaine's Coffee Call, the lobby-adjacent coffee shop, and you won't want to. It bustles with life, from guests and locals. J. Parker Rooftop Bar does the usual drinks and small plates, but also stages unique events, like yoga classes with panoramic views. There's a gym on-property, but guests can also buy passes to the large Equinox club nearby for $25. Loaner bikes make great getaway vehicles for exploring the lakefront path nearby.

What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?
Great location between downtown and the North Side, and walking distance to Second City improv shows.

Bottom line: worth it, and why?
Great value in a relaxed location.
