Why book?
For mod and woodsy cabins that feel like they're tucked deep within a serenely private compound despite their convenient location smack dab in the middle of downtown Woodstock.
Set the scene
Woodstock, the town, is a bit phony. That music festival that forever defined counterculture back in 1969? It was named after Woodstock, yes, but the town’s residents shut down plans to actually host the concerts there and festivities eventually landed in Bethel, New York, some 90 minutes southwest by car. The rejection of the Woodstock Festival by their forebears has done little to deter present-day residents from opening up souvenir shop after souvenir shop shilling tie-dye clothing emblazoned with peace sign motifs. Woodstock has plenty that makes it worth visiting, make no mistake, from good food to tranquility itself, and the Woodstock Way thankfully has taken a different path design-wise from the false flower children that make up a segment of the populace. Turn off the main street (Tinker, home to many of the aforementioned businesses) and you’re on gravel, surrounded by the trickle of a waterfall, and walking through thoughtfully landscaped grounds with delightful cascading levels. Here, the nature is the thing.
The backstory
The property opened in late 2018 on land sold to the current owners by a woman who still lives in and operates a darling antique store out of two charming houses at the entrance.
The rooms
Rooms here are really like modern, modular lodges—walls of glass, sitting areas in most, decks with outdoor seating for morning coffee. Worn leather couches. Crisp white bedding.
Food and drink
There’s not a full-service restaurant onsite—deference is shown wisely to the myriad amazing restaurants within walking distance—but the lobby cabin doubles as a warm and happy café during the day with complimentary espresso for guests.
The spa
In-room massages and reiki sessions can be arranged, as well as appointments with businesses within walking distance for something more immersive.
The neighborhood/area
Abundant restaurants and coffee shops line the streets just off the premises, with live music in a nearby square—an actually happy byproduct of the festival having brushed through town.
The service
Pretty spare—you’re left to your own devices for the most part, and this is nice. I did arrive having sweat a huge amount of sunscreen into my eyes and the person at the front desk generously gave me many of the eyedrops she had received from her doctor after a recent surgery.

There is one ADA-compliant suite.
Eco-effort
One look around and you won't be surprised to hear that sustainability was a key design component. Half of the structures on site have living roof systems, a three-tier bio-retention pond receives a majority of storm runoff, and the second-floor balconies are supported by tree trunks that were harvested from the very same property during initial construction. Much of the patio also came from bluestone onsite, remnants of a tannery structure dating to the 19th century.
Anything left to mention?
Pet the antique shop proprietor’s cats if they’ve come outside meowing at their owner for dinner. They are lovely.
