Why book?
JW Marriott is synonymous with luxury (and family-friendly amenities), and that’s exactly what you’ll get at the JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort.
Set the scene
This AAA Four Diamond hotel is known for its attention to detail, guest rooms built for the whole family, and fantastic rooftop bar. In fact, Parkestry Rooftop Bar & Lounge is known for being one of the best spots in Anaheim for epic views of the surrounding area, especially at sunset as the Disneyland theme parks begin to light up like twinkling play sets. You'll always find a decent mix of people checking in and out of the hotel. Guests range from families with kids in town for a Southern California getaway to businesspeople heading to meetings and conferences at the hotel or the nearby Anaheim Convention Center.
The backstory
The JW Marriott, Anaheim Resort opened in the middle of the pandemic, in August 2020. The JW Marriott brand as a whole is known for its luxurious touches, inviting atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and overall relaxing vibe, allowing travelers to truly rest after a long day of exploring the nearby areas or attending meetings.
The rooms
Guest rooms are spacious, and many are designed with families in mind. Basic two-queen rooms are nearly 400 square feet, with cozy beds to retreat to after long days in the California sun. Marble bathrooms feature a separate tub and shower. Cool colors and warm ambient lighting help bring a sense of calm to the spaces. Families looking for even more room will love the Family Bunkbed Suite, which can sleep up to six people in two separate bedrooms. The family suites also feature two bathrooms and 1,140 square feet of space, meaning there’s plenty of room for everyone to stretch their legs after power walking through Disneyland.
Food and drink
Dining at the resort is a treat. Tocca Ferro Italian Chophouse features sustainable “seed-to-table” dining, with a menu that highlights hand-rolled pasta and dry-aged beef. Additionally, some of the ingredients for cocktails and meal garnishes at Tocca Ferro are grown right at the hotel’s JW Garden. Be sure to try the Cieli Scuri cocktail, which uses rosemary from the garden as a garnish.
And speaking of drinks, don’t miss out on the rooftop bar, Parkestry Rooftop Bar, where the exceptional cocktails are only outdone by the incredible views of Anaheim and Disneyland. Try to arrive early if you want a seat near the glass barrier for unobstructed views.
The neighborhood/area
Situated at the edge of the Anaheim GardenWalk, the resort is right in the middle of the tourist district with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Additionally, guests can walk to Disneyland in about 20 minutes via the sidewalk along Disney Way and Harbor Boulevard.
The service
Service feels personalized and warm, especially at check-in, where employees are cheerful and excited to serve guests. Those looking to mix Dole Whips and beloved rides with a bit of wellness can utilize the fitness center, which has Peloton bikes, or the yoga and zen room for in-person and digital classes.
For families
The property is ideal for families looking for a luxury getaway near Disneyland. It boasts spacious accommodations, including family suites that can sleep up to six people. Additionally, family events take place throughout the week, like cookie decorating on Thursdays and movie nights on Saturdays.
Eco effort
The resort’s JW Garden grows ingredients used in the on-site bars and restaurants.
Accessibility
Accessibility features include elevators, an accessible entrance, a self-operating lift in the pool, and mobility accessible rooms.
Anything left to mention?
The heated pool, while mainly catering to adults, is a relaxing spot at the resort. It’s open year-round, which is nice for those who like to start off (or end) their day with a swim.
