    Why book?

With recent starting prices under $350 a night, the Cadillac is one of the more affordable options for an oceanfront property in Miami Beach that still serves a dose of style and glamour. And while it still certainly offers a buzz with hip guests of all ages enjoying the bungalow pool deck and beach bar, it’s set on a quieter pocket of Miami Beach, in Mid-Beach.

    Set the scene

The light and airy lobby is anchored by large white rounded columns complemented by deep dark blue and gold-gilded accents that follow throughout and speak to the hotel’s glitzy and charming personality. The outdoor bungalow space is nothing short of inviting, with palm-tree-lush greenery, two pools, great music, and an elevated private beachside area. There’s an old-world charm that carries through from the lobby to the pool area, too, with an outdoor large projector screen often used to host movie screenings for hotel guests.

    The backstory

The property originally opened in 1940 and was designed by Art Deco architect Roy France, known for his influence on the Miami Beach skyline. It was an era when modern styles were beginning to evolve and flourish in the area; among them were Art Deco and Streamline Modern, architecture styles inspired by the major developments in transportation taking off around them. During World War II, the property was leased and used as a base for the US military. It soon returned to hospitality, though, and later underwent a major renovation and restoration in 2004.

It wasn’t until 2018 that the Cadillac really came into itself, though. It was remodeled and modernized by the well-known Bill Rooney Studio, drawing inspiration from the glamorous, sophisticated feel of the 1940s European Riviera. That being said, the space preserved much of its Art Deco aesthetic around the entrance, where the marble staircase leads to a large royal blue mat with a golden Cadillac logo. To the right, a large lounge area (really, a smoking area) and to the left, striped blue and white umbrellas. Long, cinched-back curtains line the front doorway, welcoming guests with classic signature original terrazzo floors in the lobby.

    The rooms

The Cadillac doesn’t feel too big nor small, with 357 rooms that offer both city and ocean views. The room options are in a separate section of the property from the suites in the Cadillac Tower, and include city or ocean views with either a king bed or two queens. Though, do note: There’s a difference between the “ocean” and “oceanfront” rooms—the latter features a direct view of the Atlantic rather than a partial view of the ocean.

Suite options include an oceanfront king (with a separate living room area, accommodating up to three adults) and the signature Cadillac suite (with a private terrace, state-of-the-art entertainment system, and ocean views). Throughout the property, each room and suite is a light-filled and stylishly appointed space, adorned in cool and soothing shades of blue, white, and gold. My room, a king city view, was a bit smaller than other options in neighboring hotels that I’ve stayed at, but its bright aura, framed vintage photograph art, and cozy bed, made up for it. While all rooms feature L’Occitane hair products and soaps, flat-screen TVs, solid Wi-Fi, mini-fridges, and a tea and coffee maker, suite options also include room service, Frette robes and slippers, and a Nespresso coffee maker.

    Food and beverage

Perhaps the top highlight of this hotel property is the Bungalow Beach Bar and Grill, which is open to both guests and the public. The beachside space sits alongside the boardwalk (near the two private hotel pools) and opens up into the private oceanfront area. It’s the perfect place for a mid-day pick-me-up—the menu is filled with fresh juices and a raw bar with light bites in the afternoon (and available for dinner, too). Once the sun sets, poolside-adjacent palm trees line the boardwalk leading up to the restaurant, lighting it up in sweet twinkling lights. Feel free to bring your rosé, wine, or cocktails to the beach area, too.

Located adjacent to the hotel and beach club space is Donna Mare Italian Chophouse, where you’ll find master pasta-makers preparing handcrafted and delicious dishes. While you can also dine outside in the open terrace (with a street-facing view), there are warm wood accents and golden velvet drapes inside, creating a cozy and intimate setting. It’s a classically inspired farm-to-table space: Make sure to order the daily fresh oysters to share with a special someone, and dig deep into the spicy rigatoni alla vodka. There are also heaps of wood-fired pizzas to choose from, all made with dough from a 50-year-old mother yeast.

There’s a smaller-sized lobby bar on the first floor as well. Every Friday and Saturday night, the space is activated with live house music beats (usually performed by “DJ Louie”) alongside drawn perimeter curtains, creating a home-y and lounge-like feel.

    The spa

There’s no indoor spa at the Cadillac—the fabulous spa services at K’alma Spa are exclusively al fresco and European-inspired; you can also relax and restore inside of one of the poolside spa cabanas. Appropriately, given the hotel’s fondness for all things rosé, services include treatment from the 100% plant-based Caudalie line, made of grapevines from the South of France. One of the full body massages, coined Rosé Dreams, incorporates dry oil infused with rosé vine elixir and a rose and grapefruit essence. There’s also a Limoncello massage option, which firms and smoothens the skin with hints of lemon, lemongrass, rosemary, and more. More body treatment and facial services can be found on their site, too. In-room treatment options are available upon request.

    The neighborhood/area

While still on the buzzy Collins Avenue, the Cadillac has a real tucked away feel, with less traffic and a bit less noise than nearby properties. It takes over the space between 39th and 40th streets, with direct access to the boardwalk, Bal Harbor shops, and beach from the property. Located in the Collins Waterfront Historic District, a two-mile stretch home to a collection of historic buildings that date from the 1920s to the ’60s. Almost entirely surrounded by water, it’s also near the Architectural District and a pocket once known as Millionaire’s Row. With light traffic, it takes around 15 to 20 minutes to reach Miami International Airport (MIA). Though, note: Traffic from the beach to the city proper can be brutal—during peak traffic, it can take up to an hour.

    The service

The staff at the front desk was warm and helpful, ensuring check-in was a smooth experience. The expansive deck is also home to two pools, one adults-only and one family-friendly, both offering great service regardless of whether you’re posted up on a cozy cabana or lounge chair. Included in a stay are two complimentary chairs and towels; umbrellas, beach games, snorkeling equipment, and a selection of children's toys are available to rent.

Daily fitness classes are offered by the pool for travelers who wish to stay active and mindful, too. All yoga classes are weather-dependent and led by the hotel’s partner, Nobe Yoga. The daily schedule includes Vinyasa yoga and meditation—most of the classes last an hour and are hosted in the morning, starting at 8 or 9 a.m. There’s also a 24/7 fitness center.

    Eco effort

Per the hotel’s sustainability initiatives, the Cadillac follows a triple-bottom-line approach to sustainability through the implementation of EarthView, a sustainability program created by Hersha Hotels and Resorts that focuses on a holistic approach to hospitality. In 2014, the hotel was the first to achieve LEED Certification in Miami Beach, following its renovation. Green initiatives in guest rooms include recycled-content key cards, energy-efficient light bulbs, and smart thermostats. The hotel’s housekeeping has also adopted the EcoLab Aquanomic laundry program, which delivers significant energy and water savings.

Recently, the hotel was awarded Green Lodging Designation by the Florida Green Lodging Program. Cadillac Hotel achieved the highest possible rating—Three Palms—which allows the space to host government business at all properties. In 2024, the hotel was recognized for its sustainability leadership by Green Key Global, a green certification run by AHLA and HAC.

The hotel also participates in Clean the World, a social organization with that works with hotels and resorts to distribute recycled soap and hygiene products to those in need around the world. A few other green initiatives include property-wide recycling, hotel bicycles, a turtle conservation program, and PATH water bottles in every room.

    Accessibility

The Cadillac offers both accessible room and suite options. Find more accessibility information here.

    Anything left to mention?

This is a pet-friendly property. For a flat $100 fee, your pet will be treated to perks like a complimentary Waggo bed and a treat at check-in. There is a two pet limit, and a weight maximum of 75 pounds per pet.
