Why book?
Casa Lucia is a boutique hotel nestled in Buenos Aires's stylish Recoleta neighborhood. It blends Art Deco charm with modern luxury and locally sourced design touches, making it the ideal spot for those seeking a comfortable stay in a very safe and walkable part of the city.
Set the scene
Set on one of the prettiest sycamore-lined streets in posh Recoleta, Casa Lucia is surrounded by beautifully preserved neoclassical buildings, lively sidewalk cafés, and happening bars, including the celebrated Florería Atlántico just down the street. The crowd is an interesting mix of local professionals stopping by for a cocktail at the bar after work, young creatives dressed in designer sneakers and baggy pants, and stylish international travelers, all drawn to the hotel's warm ambiance and prime location.
The backstory
Casa Lucia is housed in a 20-story Art Deco tower that was originally commissioned by shipping magnate Nicolás Mihanovich and completed in 1929. Once the tallest building in Latin America, the architectural gem has been beautifully revived by the Spanish lifestyle brand Único Hotels, marking their first venture in the Americas.
The rooms
The rooms at Casa Lucia channel a sophisticated, modern vibe with a nod to the building's Art Deco heritage. Decorated with a mix of contemporary and vintage-inspired furnishings, the rooms feature polished black-and-white checkered marble floors, sunken sofas, and hand-woven lamps designed by a local artist. Black and white photos of gorgeous doorframes throughout the city decorate the walls. Rooms either face the interior courtyard or the tree-lined street.
Food and drink
The hotel's signature restaurant, Cantina, offers a tantalizing dining experience with typical local dishes every porteño makes at home—think spinach fritters, empanadas, ravioli, and beef milanesa. The cozy craft cocktail bar, Le Club Bacan, pays homage to Argentine rock stars with black and white photos of iconic figures decorating the walls. A DJ spins music at the bar most nights.
The spa
Casa Lucia's spa is a hidden gem, albeit a small one, with just two treatment rooms, a sauna, and an indoor salt pool. Treatments such as the deep tissue massage are well worth it after a day of exploring the city.
The neighborhood/area
Recoleta is the epitome of elegance, with its stunning architecture, high-end boutiques, and lively café scene. Staying at Casa Lucia puts you right in the heart of it all, making it a breeze to explore the very best of Buenos Aires, including the nearby Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and the famous Recoleta Cemetery.
The service
The staff at Casa Lucia is keen to welcome and accommodate guests, and their approach is low-key and casual yet attentive and personal. The concierge team is excellent at making reservations and arranging unique experiences, such as private tours and cooking classes in local homes.
Accessibility
Casa Lucia meets ADA standards with ramps and elevators in place throughout the property.
Anything left to mention?
Don’t miss the breakfast buffet which has a little bit of everything, including medialunas con dulce de leche (caramel-filled croissants), local yogurts, fresh fruit, and mate, the local caffeinated herbal beverage you might have seen Messi and other fútbol players drinking during the World Cup.
