Why book?
Location, location, location.
Set the scene
A streetcar stop outside your door, the hustle and bustle of the city at your fingertips, quiet and comfortable rooms in the heart of it all—this is an urban hotel with no shortage of heart.
The backstory
This Canadian chain operates some of the most comfortable and reliable hotels across the Great White North, from Vancouver to Halifax.
The rooms
The rooms are perfectly fine but nothing too fancy. For a urban hotel in the heart of a downtown core, however, they do feel pretty spacious—especially the Suites and Deluxe Rooms. There’s everything you’ll need for a no-fuss stay: mini refrigerators, tea/coffee makers, HD Smart TV’s, and bathrooms outfitted with Gilchrist & Soames amenities. We loved that every room also comes with its own microwave.
Food and drink
On the first floor you’ll find Abrielle, a beautiful and light-drenched space serving delicious Mediterranean food. The wine list emphasizes female winemakers and estate owners, and the restaurant offers a fun, boozy brunch on weekends.
The spa
While there isn’t a spa, there is a great fitness area and indoor pool. State of the art? Perhaps not, but it’s perfectly adequate for sneaking in a quick sweat or a few laps.
The neighborhood/area
This. Is. Downtown. Toronto. If you’re looking to see open space, this isn’t the hotel for you. But if you want the most convenient of locations just steps from CN Tower, Kensington Market, and the Harbourfront Centre—not to mention a streetcar stop outside the hotel’s front door—then this is the one for you.
The service
The hotel caters to a lot of business travelers. So while the service is professional and warm, they’re definitely used to running things quickly, like a well-oiled machine.
For families
There is a two-bedroom suite available with tons of space for grown-ups and kids to stretch out in comfort. Call the hotel directly to book that one.
Eco effort
The hotel has partnered with Veritree, which plants five trees for every night of your stay that you elect to skip daily room cleanings. There’s even a website where you can verify where said trees are eventually planted.
Accessibility
Elevators go everywhere, hallways are wide, and there are accessible rooms available with accommodations such as dual shower heads, support bars, and extra space.
Anything left to mention?
The hotel is pet-friendly, and charges a $40 per night fee.
